But, it will soon end to easy mail and fax marketing.
1) In Singapore, the Anti Spam Law was put in place in 2007. The law dictates that there should be no more unsolicited mass mailing or spamming. However, there are strict rules to follow for email marketing campaign. There is a heavy penalty for those email marketer that does not comply with the anti spam laws. Under the Act, anyone who is found guilty of sending spam that does not comply with the guidelines may be fined up to S$25 for each electronic message, up to a total of S$1 million. New revision to the existing anti spam laws are been drafted to meet the changing and dynamic electronic marketplace.
2) On 2nd Jan 2014, the Singapore “Do Not Call (DNC) Registry” will commence. The DNC regime under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) prohibits organisations from sending such messages to Singapore telephone numbers, including mobile, fixed-line, residential and business numbers, registered with the registry. The DNC Registry is meant to focus on telemarketing calls or messages of a commercial nature sent to consumers. This means that no commercial organisation can do telephone cold calling or mass faxing with commercial intent.
Naturally, with the anti-spam laws and the “Do Not Call (DNC) Registry”, SEO in Singapore will be rapidly evolving to be a primary marketing tool for small and medium business.
